Miracle Recovery at Apex Hospitals: 10-Year-Old's Crushed Leg Saved After Road Accident

Apex Hospital News

In a remarkable display of medical expertise, our doctors at Apex Hospitals, Jaipur, successfully saved the severely crushed leg of a 10-year-old boy who was brought in after a tragic road accident. The child, whose leg was nearly lost due to the trauma, underwent critical surgery under the guidance of Senior Orthopaedic Surgeon Dr. Sandeep Garg.

According to Dr. Garg, the boy’s leg had been completely crushed in the accident, and his family arrived at the hospital carrying a piece of bone, approximately four inches, in their hand. “The limb was badly damaged and nearly unsalvageable,” said Dr. Garg. “Immediate intervention was necessary to prevent amputation and save the child’s life.”

The emergency team acted swiftly, taking the child into the ICU. A complex two-hour surgery was performed, during which the detached bone fragment was carefully reattached. Over the next three months, regular wound care and follow-ups ensured full healing, and the boy’s leg was later immobilized in a cast. Today, he is not only pain-free but also walking normally with full mobility restored.

Dr. Garg emphasized the high risk involved in such cases, stating, “Saving the limb in such conditions is often extremely difficult, and infection can pose a serious threat to the patient’s life. But thanks to the dedication of our surgical and support team, we achieved a positive outcome.”

He also urged the public to act quickly during such accidents. “In case of limb detachment, it's critical to keep the severed part in ice and bring it wrapped in a plastic bag to the hospital immediately,” he advised.

This case highlights Apex Hospitals’ commitment to advanced trauma care, surgical excellence, and a patient-first approach, reinforcing its role as a leading name in orthopaedic and emergency healthcare in Rajasthan.
